A tribunal is a fascinating event... when you are not the one being judged, needless to say. There are so many different faces, so many different people coming from every level of society; a real life theatre. Although drawing is not as intrusive as photography, I always asked permission to draw. It has also been a great opportunity to meet people I wouldn't have had the chance to otherwise meet.
People are very patient with me... when they are sleeping. Or when they are just stuck in a place where they have to wait. I remember this TV series "The Fourth Dimension", where suddenly everything in the street stopped, everybody looked like they had been frozen. It’s an artist's dream: having people pausing anywhere at any time just when you want to draw them. And if only we could leave their portrait in their bag, making them wonder afterwards how it appeared. Spooky!

Depending on people's availability, I draw from life or from pictures. Although it could have been good training for his wedding day, I spared Steve (bottom right icon) the cramps by drawing from a picture!
Monkeys don't seem to need as much sleep as humans. Anyway, I haven't been lucky so far. They move so fast - or I draw so slowly - that it remains a big frustration of my life not to be able to draw a monkey picking his nose or scratching his bottom. I haven't given up hope and I continue to practice with my fiancé who bears a striking resemblance to his tree-bound ancestors (mine were surely closer to the ground…!)
