X-3 Stilleto 1/32 Mahogany
Model
The twin-turbojet
X-3, the only one built, was designed to test features
of an airplane suitable for sustained flights at supersonic
speeds and high altitudes, as well as to investigate
the use of new materials such as titanium and to explore
new construction techniques. Made of Philippine mahogany,
this 1/32 scale model measures 251/4" in length
and has a wingspan of 81/2". These beautifully
crafted models are all hand-made, hand painted and
detailed. Each model comes ready to display on the
included mahogany base. |

The X-3 was
built by Douglas to explore the design features required
for sustained supersonic speeds. This detailed plastic
kit includes accurate decals and display stand, and
