Corsair
- VHS Video
Pacific Warrior. With its bent wings and long nose,
the Corsair was one of the most distinctive planes
of WWII. It was the scourge of Japanese pilots,
capable of diving at more than 500 miles per hour.
But, surprisingly, it assumed its most familiar
role - flying from the decks of U.S. carriers -
three years after it was unveiled. Drawing on color
archival film, detailed computer re-enactments and
interviews with Corsair pilots, this video tells
the story of the legendary aircraft. 50 min. |

Lancaster Bomber
- VHS Video
Target Germany. See the evolution of the Lancaster
bomber into one of the most successful WWII aircraft
- thanks to its incredible range and capacity, holding
twice the bomb load of any other Allied plane. Yet,
as surviving pilots and crewmembers recall, there
was a high cost: nearly half of the British Bomber
Command crews were lost in action. Video brings the
danger and daring of these deadly missions to life
with an extraordinary re-enactment that draws on actual
combat footage, state-of-the-art computer rendering
and dramatic re-creation. 50 minutes. |

Messerschmitt 262
- VHS Video
Race for the Jet. Video chronicles the story of the
race to develop the world's first jet fighter. It
was a battle between two pioneers - one, working in
Britain, had to overcome government indifference,
while the other, a German, enjoyed the full support
of the Nazi war machine. Through interviews with engineers
who worked on the projects and the recollections of
the men who flew and fought against the Me 262, the
race that had the potential to turn the tide of WWII
comes alive. 50 minutes. |

F-86 Sabre - VHS
Video
Jet Strike! Developed using jet technology captured
from the Germans after World War II, the F-86 approached
speeds of Mach 1. Here, see the F-86's developmental
and service history, including its service in the
Korean War where, despite the Soviet-made MiG-15's
design that was in many ways superior, the F-86 achieved
a 10:1 kill ratio. Includes interviews with the pilots
and a large collection of gun camera footage. Color

B-26 Marauder! -
VHS Video
It was one of the most feared, controversial and successful
aircraft of World War II. And it underwent a reversal
of fortune unmatched by any other plane. When the
B-26 Marauder was introduced in 1940, it was the most
advanced mid-range bomber in the world. But it soon
acquired a reputation for being difficult to fly,
and it was labeled the "Widowmaker." This
video reveals how the B-26 narrowly escaped being
pulled from service. Pilots like Jimmy Doolittle argued
that its intricacies could be mastered and that the
B-26 would prove to be an outstanding plane. They
were right. It's pinpoint accuracy - seen here in
archival film of the bombing of the Benedictine Abbey
on Monte Casino - was unmatched, and its speed and
remarkably low loss rate eventually made the Marauder
a favorite of U.S. aviators. Interviews with the men
who flew it, archival footage and dramatic reenactments
bring to life the complete story of one of the most
important WWII bombers. 50 min. |
