America Takes Flight
- VHS Video
This video presents stunning footage of the Ford Air
Tours that crisscrossed the country from 1925-1931,
documenting the contest between vintage aircraft manufactured
by Ford, Travel Air, Waco, Great Lakes, Monocoupe
and others. You'll also meet aviation greats participating
in those events including Walter Beech, Edsel B. Ford
and Eddie Stinson. Fully narrated, B&W, 60 minutes,
VHS.
In this coming year of 2003, we will celebrate the
Centennial of Powered Flight as well as the Centennial
of the Ford Motor Company. It will have been 75 years
since the National Air Tours were at their zenith
as well. If ever there were a year to celebrate the
development of aviation, 2003 is it. And, what better
way to do it than to re-create the National Air Tour.
Want to learn more about the original National Air
Tours? The complete history is available in the book,
The Ford Air Tours: 1925-1931 (item #5991).
Proceeds from the sale of this video directly benefit
the Aviation Foundation of America, sponsor of the
2003 National Air Tour. |
